  Google Analytics
Google Analytics is a web analytics service provided by Google that allows you to analyze detailed statistics on visitors to a website. The service is used for internet marketing and by webmasters. Google Analytics is the most used statistics service on the web, with a market share of 85.4% in the top 10 million sites. Google Analytics is used by about 56.4% of the same websites.
The tool is used to observe various types of statistics such as the duration of the session, the origin of the visit, the number of pages visited, the most viewed pages, the geographical position, etc. It can be integrated with Google Ads and users can analyze online campaigns, monitoring the quality of the pages and the transformation of the visit into a goal. These goals can include sales, lead generation, specific page views, or the download of a certain file. Users have 100 profiles that can correspond to a website, but also to a particular section or subsection of the site.

Google allows the data collected to be made anonymous, by not recording the last digits of the IP address, which is a necessary element for identifying the visitor with certainty.
This choice has a big impact on privacy:
  • anonymized data: even though these are detected data that impact on the individual's freedoms by showing targeted advertising, etc., being anonymized they fall into the type of technical cookies and therefore without the need for the visitor's consent
  • non-anonymised data: since these are relevant data and have nothing to do with the technical needs of the site (they are not there to make the site work properly), they require the explicit consent expressed by the visitor to be processed.

  Profiling
Profiling cookies are developed for the express purpose of giving shape to profiles of each user in order to tailor advertising messages (or other). This means that the ultimate purpose of these cookies is different from that of, for example, technical cookies and that, therefore, they are aimed solely and exclusively at understanding the preferences of individual users in such a way as to submit them while browsing content targeted and plausibly of interest to them.
Let's take a quick example: who has never happened to visit a travel website and to come across during the following navigations in advertisements for holidays or flights? The mechanism on which profiling cookies are based is precisely this: once the browser has visited the site and given its consent, it will only save the navigation data and then reuse them later. This will serve to create a sort of historical memory which, following adequate cross-referencing of the various data, will allow the browser in question to propose appropriately targeted advertisements. This particular form of marketing, as clearly explained above, is nothing more than a way to do business and, therefore, requires the consent of the user. The need to obtain user consent for the use of navigation data is closely linked to the fact that these data are not tracked for technical reasons and, therefore, for the functioning of the site in question but, on the contrary, they are stored for reasons that have nothing to do with the website.
The user can consider profiling cookies as an assistant that keeps track of their preferences and then will direct promotional messages in any case present on the web pages they visit, so that the message is more appropriate than the preferences previously expressed.
In fact, there is no need to confuse profiling cookies with the presence of advertising banners on websites: those are there anyway, except that if I do not accept profiling cookies, those banners will be generic, if I access them, those banners will show me more content. relevant for example to my location, my favorite car brand, etc.

Transfer to third countries: Exemptions for data transfers

In the absence of an adequacy decision or adequate safeguards, the GDPR provides some exemptions for which a transfer can be made. These exemptions include transfers made under the following conditions:
  • the interested party, subject to disclosure also concerning the transfer risks implemented in the absence of an adequacy decision or adequate guarantees, gives express consent;
  • the transfer is necessary for the execution of a contract or pre-contractual measures adopted at the request of the interested party;
  • the transfer is necessary for important reasons of public interest or to ascertain or defend a right in court;
  • the transfer is necessary for the protection of the vital interests of the data subject or other persons, if the data subject is physically or legally incapable of giving his consent;
  • the transfers are indicated in a register which, according to Union or Member State law, provides information to the public and can be consulted by the public or by anyone demonstrating a legitimate interest on the basis of the consultation requirements established by the Union or by the Member States .

  Technical cookies
Technical cookies are used to browse or provide a service requested by the user. They are not used for other purposes and are normally installed directly by the website owner.
Without the use of these cookies, some operations could not be performed or would be more complex or less secure.
Basically, technical cookies are nothing more than elements with a purely functional role. They cannot therefore have statistical, analytical or tracking purposes.
Instead, they are used, for example, to store visitor preferences so that the browsing experience is more adequate.
Many of the technical cookies used by websites are essential: without them the functioning of the same site could be compromised.
For these reasons, the reference legislation provides for two different actions depending on whether they are technical or other cookies.
Users' consent is not required for the installation of technical cookies, but the information (Article 13 of the 2016/679 EU Regulation) which briefly explains how it works remains mandatory.
This is why in CookieMan you can disable all cookies except those classified as technical.
In fact, you will see an indicator next to the technical cookies, which cannot be disabled. This is allowed by regulatory provisions, but don't worry: with technical cookies it is not possible to identify you and no tracking of your behavior will be activated.
